Chocolate Face and Body Butter Bar – Only Three Ingredients!
Packing for a vacation often means limited space in your suitcase. In such situations, a solid face and body butter is a perfect solution. Its fully natural formula melts upon contact with the skin, making application easier and eliminating the need for extra packaging. It is suitable for both body and face care and can be used by both children and adults.
The solid butter effectively:
- Moisturizes and regenerates the skin, preventing it from drying out,
- Soothes irritation after shaving and depilation,
- Protects the skin from external factors,
- Can be used as a natural lip balm,
- Enhances the action of a moisturizer when applied as a protective layer.
Although cocoa butter is highly nourishing, it has quite a firm texture and takes time to melt in your hands. Additionally, its intense bitter chocolate scent may not be for everyone. To improve its application and aroma, it’s worth combining it with shea butter and adding a few drops of vanilla essential oil.
How to make solid body butter?
The basic ingredients are:
- Shea butter – for softness and skin elasticity,
- Cocoa butter – for deep nourishment and protection,
- Plant oils and essential oils – for additional skincare properties and a pleasant scent.

Homemade solid butter is not only convenient and space-saving, but also an eco-friendly and natural solution for daily skincare.
Solid butter makes a great gift for natural skincare lovers, especially for mothers and children, since almost all of the ingredients (except for essential oils) are edible. Remember that everything you apply to your skin eventually enters your body.
Thanks to the wide variety of molds available online, you can experiment with shapes to create unique and personalized cosmetics.
Homemade Solid Body Butter Recipe – One Batch:
The butter I prepare weighs about 115 g.
Ingredients:
- 80 g unrefined cocoa butter (extra virgin)
- 24 g refined shea butter
- 11 g neutral plant oil (any kind, as long as it’s unscented – even sunflower oil from your kitchen will work)
- optional: a few drops of vanilla essential oil
Method:
- Melt the ingredients – Place all the ingredients in a bowl and gently heat them in a double boiler until fully melted. You can also use a coffee cup warmer if you want to control the temperature.

2. Chill and stir – After the ingredients are melted, place the mixture in the fridge and stir it occasionally until it starts to thicken (it should reach the consistency of an emulsion – called “trace”).

4. Mold – Once the mixture thickens, pour it into molds and place it in the fridge overnight.

5. Ready product – In the morning, remove the butter from the molds and enjoy your natural skincare product
This method ensures that the butter will have a creamy consistency and will spread easily on the skin.
